Have The Time Of Your Life On A Cairo Holiday

By Jack F Davis

If you want to see all that Egypt has to offer then Cairo holidays can be a great place to start your search. Cairo is a great base to explore many of the Egyptian winders as some of the fantastic sights are just outside the city. You can visit the Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx. Cairo is also home to the Egyptian museum and to see everything you will need several days.

First stop on many tourist itineraries in Cairo is a visit to the Egyptian Museum. This is where you can meet Egypt's most famous son King Tut and see his glorious tomb treasures. There are also many different pharaohs and their riches that are protected by the vigilant eyes of the museum security. Nowhere in the world can you see so much Egyptian treasure, but look carefully as you are not allowed to photograph any of the exhibits.

Cairo holiday site Khan Ali-Kalili Market is a traditional souk where for centuries merchants have been trading spices, fragrance, oils and jewelry. Wander the streets around the market that have remained unchanged since the 14th century and pick up some interesting and exotic souvenirs to take home with you.

High above the city the Cairo Citadel has stood guard since the 12th century. When you visit this impressive fortress you can wander through historic nooks and crannies as well as glimpsing the city below. Right by Cairo's old northern gates is the beautiful Mosque of Sayyidna al-Hussein. This is one of Egypt's most important mosques and the area around it is a fascinating place to stroll.

When you think of Egypt you inevitably think of the Nile River. This impressive waterway has been the nectar that has nourished Egypt since civilization began here on its banks. Taking a cruise out onto the river is an interesting way to see the city.

Cairo is not only an ancient city though - it also has a thoroughly modern side. There are a number of shopping centers with all the latest clothing fashions and coffee shops. The underground is modern, clean and brings you where you want to be much faster than a taxi. As far as accommodation and food is concerned, you have world class hotels and restaurants in Cairo. Whether your taste is international food, or traditional Egyptian or Middle Eastern cuisine, you will find it. All the major hotel chains are present, but you can also sleep on the roof of a cheap guest house for and watch the stars at night for next to nothing. The perfect Cairo holiday is not the same for everyone... Why should it be?
